The CNU Alumni Association had a celebration dinner for Vietnamese students at CNU to mark Vietnam’s Reunification Day on April 29. The event was well-attended by high-profile individuals, including CNU Alumni Association President Jeong In-chae, CNU President Jeong Byung-seok, Nguyen Viet Phong, vice president of the Vietnamese Association in Korea and Nguyen Thanh Son, a member of the Culture of Vietnamese Students Association in Korea. Vietnamese students from other universities and the Cheonnam Regional Vietnamese Association also attended. Hoang Cuong, president of the CNU Vietnamese Students Association paid tribute to the interest and support from CNU and CNU alumni, as well as Korean student fellows and international friends studying at CNU. “The program is a place for exchanging and meeting in the artistic movements of Vietnamese students in the Gwangju area, creating the premise for future relationships between the parties. It is a chance for students to show their talent and unwind after a stressful time at school. It is spiritual food for Vietnamese people far from home.” He believes it is beneficial for Vietnam-Korea relations as Korean event-goers would grasp a better understanding of Vietnamese history and culture. “Hopefully, the relationship will flourish from there.”
