Chonnam National University (CNU) celebrated the 67th anniversary of its founding with a celebration ceremony on June 5. About 500 people including CNU President, CNU Alumni Association President, faculty, alumni and staff members attended the ceremony held at Minjumaru on Yongbong campus. The university awarded a variety of valuable prizes including the Hugwang Academic Award, the Yongbong Academic Award, and the Honorary Yongbong Grand Award. The 12th Hugwang Academic Award was given to Emeritus Professor Song Ki-suk. Presidned Jeong Byung-seok delivered remarks at the event, “The history of CNU itself is a valuable asset for mankind, but now it is time to rewrite the new history of innovation.” He also added that the university should be the nourishment for students who will enter the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Best and long-serving professors and staff members who have been contributing to the development of the university also were awarded at the ceremony.
