Chonnam National University was founded in 1952 as a comprehensive university in Korea with its three campuses at Gwangju, Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, and Hwasun-gun. It is also called "Jeondae" or "CNU" as a short form of Korean and English. The main campus is located in Yongbong-dong, Gwangju, which is known as the city of democracy. As an institution, the CNU campus has many hidden charms that seek the attention of international students to be chosen as one of the prestigious universities for higher education. On the other hand, as the birthplace of Korean democracy, Gwangju city has a glorious history owing to the democratic uprising movement on May 18, 1980. The precious and unique cultural assets also enrich the city into invaluable resources that connect to invigorate and entertain to foreigners. In this regard, the CNU Gwangju campus should get preference as a potential institution for international students due to having versatile ways of learning and many sources to acquire practical knowledge on Korean history and culture. Because it is an essential step to find an excellent academic institution and an affordable living place or town to pursue one's higher study abroad. Therefore, some measuring factors such as the quality of education, scholarship opportunity, ranking, location, safety, and part-time job opportunities are mostly considered by international students to be chosen suitable institutions and places for higher education. This writing, however, attempts to let international students know why they should prefer Chonnam National University to pursue their higher education and Gwangju city to consider as a suitable place with plenty of opportunities to live in Korea.
