▲ CNU President Jung Sung-taek giving a congratulatory message

Chonnam National University (CNU) held the 69th contactless graduation ceremony on February 26, and conferred degrees to a total of 4,109 graduates: 3,251 Bachelor’s, 714 Master’s, and 144 Doctoral degrees. Due to the COVID-19 situation, a face-to-face commencement was cancelled, two videos have been uploaded on the CNU official YouTube channel instead. One video contains internal reports on education, introductions to students of academic excellence, and congratulatory messages from alumni. CNU President Jung Sungtaek said, “The world is changing rapidly, and conventional order and norms being disbanded. The world itself might appear to be nervous and confusing, but you will embrace it as another chance.” The president also encouraged graduates to take up challenges, and always to remember that it is important to cooperate and communicate with others in order to be prepared for the upcoming future. The video was followed by a formal entreaty from the president to both the graduates and locals, and another video was dedicated to other congratulatory remarks from the deans of each college.
