▲ An expert counseling an international resident online with an interpreter

International students and residents in Buk-gu had opportunities to get a free online counseling with experts in various areas. The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Chonnam National University (CNU) hosted the ‘OIA Counselling Day’ event from February 24 to March 5, using the Zoom platform to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. International residents and students who wanted to get a one-to-one counseling applied for the event on the OIA’s website in advance. The counseling categories were different every day. The participants were able to talk with experts about what they wanted to ask in five languages; Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Uzbek, and they also took the guided imaginary and music therapy counseling. The staff in charge of the event in the OIA said, “While 30 people had participated during the counseling days, 22 of them were CNU students and eight were international residents in Buk-gu.” As a video with FAQ by foreigners has been uploaded on the OIA YouTube channel in Korean and English, internationals can obtain information about their daily life including visa, studying abroad and employment.
