The College of Education hosted the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Education Convergence Center (ECC) on April 30. The ceremony was successfully held on the first floor of ECC and proceeded with 200 attendants including Jeong Byung-seok, the president of Chonnam National University and Lee Sang-kwon, the dean of the college. The ECC aims to cultivate students with creative and convergent thinking abilities and skills that society in the future will require. The center is an 11-story building that is separated into a lecture hall, a practice part, a research part, an administration part with 34 lecture rooms, 8 seminar rooms, and 40 experimental laboratories. It also has rest spaces on the first floor and the top of the building has been designed to have natural lighting to provide a good place for research and education. The college mainly controls the center as 11 departments out of 16 use the building. President Jeong showed his expectations by saying, “The ECC will be a cradle for training secondary school teachers and a foundation for studying the theory and reality of education.”
