Competing teams line up for the opening of the 2023 CNU President's Cup Soccer Match.

     The 25th CNU President’s Cup Soccer Tournament began Nov. 13 with an opening ceremony hosted by the General Student Council (GSC). The event took place at Sports Ground 1, approximately 250 people, including athletes and spectators attending. Abdullah Mamajonov (Senior, Faculty of Business Administration), captain of the Uzbekistan soccer team “Uzebek Tigers” said, “We made it to third place the last time, and we are aiming for the championship this year. It will be tough, but we will bring fire to the games.”

25 participating teams were introduced, followed by a ceremonial passing of the flag. President Jung Sungtaek and GSC president Jeong Youn-jung addressed the audience with a congratulatory speech, and the competing athletes took an oath, expressing their commitment to fair play and sportsmanship. The ceremony came to an end with an official declaration of the opening of the tournament, which is scheduled to hold its last match on Nov. 25.
